Shooting Assignment: Halloween
I took this photo of my brother's massive Jason Vorhees action figure. I posed it infront of a dark plant to go with his dark green shirt. To start i cropped and white balanced the photo. I lowered the black values, and made the hue of the yellow values more orange, I also darkened the green values. Then I duplicated that layer and slightly shifted the duplicate to the right, then I lowered the opacity to about 50% and used the multiply blend option. In my opinion this is a great photo, dark and frightening, yet loud and profound. I also love the colours and tones of the photo, as well as the perspective, Jason is reaching out to grab you.
In this photo I told my brother to pose like his figure. I first made the photo black and white, then raised the contrast to around 90 and lowered the black values to around -50. Then I darkened my brother's eyes inside the mask, because originally they were completely visible. I then removed a poster on the wall with the healing brush tool, but left it messy and darker than the rest of the wall as just a subtle detail. Then I duplicated this laid and shifted in to the right. I lowered the opacity and used the darken blend option.
I took this picture of a scarecrow in my front garden around 10pm. I put this photo in black and white, adjusted the black values and raised the contrast, I also added noise and a vignette. The reason I changed the photo the black and white is because the colours in the original were too bright and the picture did not give the impression of "danger" or the theme of halloween. I think the black and white makes the photo darker, scarier, and fit the theme of halloween quite well.
