Shooting Assignment: Shadows
This photo was taken in my basement. To create the crimson/pink light, on the other side of the cloudy glass door, I set up a pink neon light, and taped pink tissue paper over another light, the result was this. I turned down the shadows to focus more on the light from the door, and turned the vibrance and saturation up, and made the blacks darker. I also sharpened some areas, as well as lowering the clarity in other to make the areas more luminous.
I took this picture of a fake flower in my basement with all the lights off and only flash. I blocked half of the flash with my hand to create this shadow. When editing this photo, I raised contrast, highlights, and lowered blacks, I also lowered shadows and slightly raised the vibrance. I really like how the shadows on flower are so complex, all being different shades, some being more profound than others.
This is a photo of an electrical box, I liked the way the shadows from the wires were cast. For this photo I raised the saturation of the blue, and the yellow wire specifically. I started with a crop, white balance, and lens correction. I then raised the contrast, lowered shadows, and raised highlights. I personally liked the yellow wire and tried to highlight that the most I could by turning up the saturation of the yellow values.
